Setting your base currency

Your base currency is the currency used to display totals and spending insights.

1. Open Substash Settings
2. Select your preferred currency from the dropdown

Supported currencies include:

• EUR (Euro)
• USD (US Dollar)
• GBP (British Pound)
• JPY (Japanese Yen)
• And 26+ more major currencies

Multi-currency subscriptions

Add each subscription in its native currency. For example:

• Netflix in USD
• Spotify in EUR
• A local service in your local currency

Substash automatically converts all amounts to your base currency for totals and insights, while keeping the original currency visible in subscription details.

Exchange rates

Exchange rates are updated daily to ensure your spending calculations are accurate.

You can check the sync status in Settings under Connections. The exchange rate indicator shows "Connected" when your rates are current, along with the last update time.

How conversion works

When you view your insights:

1. Each subscription's cost is converted from its native currency
2. The converted amount uses the current day's exchange rate
3. All converted amounts are summed in your base currency

Both the original amount and the converted amount are visible when you view a subscription's details.
