Chris Lim Profile Photo

Hey, I'm Chris 👋

I've been making stuff online since 2009 — for myself and for others. My current focus is on Substash and Kiln (coming soon). I take on consulting projects as well. I'm originally from Sydney, now mostly based in Berlin.

Substash is a free browser extension that tracks trials and recurring subscriptions. Nearly two years after its initial release, I rebuilt and redesigned everything from the ground up to include trial management, currency conversion and cost insights. Available on Chrome, Edge and Firefox.

After co-founding NOFOMO.TV in 2018, I stepped back in 2020. They’ve been crushing it ever since, with clients such as Amazon Prime, Twitch, MTV, and Riot Games. The site was completely rebuilt with a custom WordPress back-end, tightly integrated with Bunny.net and AV1, VP9, H.265, H.264 streaming codecs.

Personal Website

July 2025

As I’m starting to actively work on new projects again, it felt like the right time to redo my personal website (chrisl.im). This website was put together in an afternoon. It’s not perfect, but it represents myself and my work a little better.

Google Search added “AI Overview” over a year ago, and it still feels half-baked. So in a couple of days, I hacked together Gemi-no to give people the option to turn it off. Gemi-no is more robust and future-proof than alternatives by leveraging web standards (i.e. non-hacky). Available on Chrome, Edge and Firefox.

Career Break

January 2025
 — July 2025

While winding down Flowstack, I took 6 months off to take a break and focus on my mental and physical health — dealing with symptoms that I’d normalised and ignored over the last two decades. This also gave me time to revisit my backlog of ideas with fresh eyes.

Accidentally built an LLM observability platform while trying to understand Axu and Flowshot customers. Launched it as a product, became Focal W23 finalists, and won VC commitments for €500K — before closing the company due to burnout.

Launched the first “AI for Google Sheets” add-on with native formulas such as =AUTOCOMPLETE (few-shot) and =AI (one-shot). We used Reddit and AI directory marketing hacks to gain 100K installs and hit breakeven in just a few months.
